The opening ceremony took place this evening in glorious sunshine in front of the Old Course Clubhouse at St Andrews. The ceremony started with 4 sky divers landing on the 1st fairway 3 of them each carrying an Irish, UK and USA flag . The teams were introduced by the GB & I captain Mary McKenna and the USA Captain Carol Semple Thompson and the flags were raised.
