FORMER BRITISH STAR ALISON TURNS THE CLOCK BACK FOR STIRLING AND CLACKMANNAN

By Colin Farquharson

A Rose by any other name ... Alison helps Stirling and Clackmannan to draw with hosts East Lothian

Former British international Alison (Rose) Davidson won both her foursomes tie (in partnership with Laura Bisset) and her singles match by 5 and 4 as Stirling and Clackmannan dented East Lothian's hopes of winning the East Division women's inter-county team jamboree at their home venue of Dunbar.
The first day ended with East Lothian and Stirling & Clackmannan figuring in a 4.5-4.5 draw while Midlothian justified favouritism to win the title at the end of three days by beating Fife 6-5-2.5
The divisional champions will go forward to join Aberdeenshire in the four-cornered Scottish county finals at Kilmacolm Golf Club from September 14 to 16.

ELAINE MOFFAT WINS THE MIDLAND VETS CHAMPIONSHIP

From Lorna Bennett

Elaine Moffat (St Regulus)  on Tuesday 19th June won the Midland Vets Championship at the Montgomery course, Kinross with a 2&1 victory in the final over Dianne Watson (Leven GS) and Elaine will now represent Midland Vets in the S.V.L.G.A. Championship at Blairgowrie on 23d and 24th September.

In the morning's semi-finals, Elaine defeated Linda McDonald (Ladybank) in a lovely match and the winning margin of 5&4 did not fairly represent how well Linda played.

In the second semi-final, Dianne beat defending Champion, Fiona de Vries, (St.Rule) by 7&6 - Dianne's amazing putting being just too much for Fiona to overcome.

The afternoon's final was played at a fast pace in dry, breezy conditions and was a pleasure for the small band of caddies and supporters to watch.

RESULTS:

Semi-finals:
Elaine Moffat beat Linda McDonald 5&4
Dianne Watson beat Fiona de Vries  7&6

Final:
Elaine Moffat beat Dianne Watson 2 & 1
