West of Scotland's Pamela Pretswell is the 2010 British Strokeplay Champion

Curtis Cup team player Pamela Pretswell(Bothwell) won the Ladies’ British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship in an exciting finish at Tenby Golf Club, South Wales today.

It is her first domestic national title although she won the Switzerland Women’s Open Amateur Championship three years ago.

She is the fourth Scot in the past seven years to win the British stroke play title, following in the footsteps of compatriots Clare Queen (2004), Heather MacRae (2005) and Roseanne Niven (2008).

The tournament was reduced to three rounds after a 2hr 30min suspension of play from 9am to 11.30am while a violent thunder and lightning storm raged over the course.

The joint overnight leaders, Pamela Pretswell and Chrisje De Vries (Netherlands), did not set out for the third round until 12.30 which meant there would not have been enough daylight left for the field to play 36 holes on the final day.

Curtis Cup reserve and the 2008 Welsh girls champion, Amy Boulden (Maesdu), whose 17th birthday was earlier this month, moved up from third place, one off the pace, at the start of the round to take the lead with an outward 37 to Pamela Pretswell’s 39 and 45 by Chrisje De Vries.

Amy Boulden had birdied the first, bogeyed the fourth, birdied the short sixth and dropped another shot at the ninth.

Pamela had bogeyed the first, fourth, seventh and ninth but got two of the strokes back with birdies at the third and fifth.

Amy Boulden was still in the lead with two holes to play after bogeying the 11th, but birdieing the 13th and long 14th before she bogeyed the 16th.

Pamela was hanging on with a birdie at the 10th but bogeys at the 11th, 14th, 15th and 16th.

Then came a two-stroke swing in the Scot’s favour. While leader Boulden bogeyed the short 17th, Pamela was able to get a birdie 2. That put her in front by a shot and she doubled her winning margin to two shots by parring the last after Boulden had bogeyed it.

So Pamela, pipped for the Austrian women’s open amateur title three weeks ago, finished with a two-over-par total of 218, made up of rounds of 72, 74 and 72.

Pamela Pretswell is leading on Day 2 of the British Strokeplay

At the end of a day of unrelenting rain it was Curtis Cup Scot Pamela Pretswell and Chrisje De Vries from the Netherlands who led the 42 qualifiers with totals of 15-over-par 159 or better into Friday’s final two rounds.
Pretswell and De Vries are both on two-over-par 146, Pamela after a second-round, two-over-par 74, one of the best scores in the awful weather, and Chrisje after a 78.
Three other Scots survived the cut – Lothians pair Rachael Watton (Mortonhall), improving by seven shots despite the deluge with a splendid 75, and Jane Turner (Craigielaw), with a battling 77, both on 157 and Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm) with an 81 for the limit mark of 159.
Bothwell Castle's Pamela Pretswell, pipped for the Austrian women’s open title two or three weeks ago, did well to salvage a 74 in such conditions to share the lead on 146 – but it looked like being an even better score with just a few holes to go to the warmth and comfort of the clubhouse.

Majorca-based (Lauren Mackin) had an 87 for 166.
Roseanne Niven (Crieff), winner of the British title only two years ago, had an 82 for 167 and Laura Murray finished 30 over par with a pair of 87s for 174.
Another Scotland international Louise Kenney (Pitreavie), who had a first-round 75, badly twisted an ankle in falling down some steps and was unable to play. With the weather as bad as it was, she was not complaining about having to rest in the clubhouse with her ankle strapped up.

FOUR QUALIFY FROM 100 FOR SLGA GRAND FINAL AT CRIEFF

Royal Musselburgh’s Sara Mathieson, Suzanne Cadden (Cardross),(pictured left) Louise Fleming (Strathaven) and Ranfurly Castle’s Helen Abram were the four qualifiers from a field of 100 at today’s (Wed) SLGA Regional Medal West Division Final at East Kilbride for the Grand Final at Crieff on Sunday, September 5th.
Sara Mathieson, Aberdeenshire women’s county champion last year and playing off six, had the lowest net return of 69 in the Silver Division, finishing two shots ahead of West of Scotland's Suzanne Cadden (Cardross) whose better inward half off five of a handicap gained her the second qualifying spot from this division ahead of two other players who had net 71s: Joyce Chalmers (East Kilbride) (9) and Ruth Pryce (Vale of Leven) (14).
In the Bronze Division, Louise Fleming, playing off 22, had a five-stroke victory with a net 69. The other qualifier in this section, Helen Abram (Ranfurly Castle) , playing off 22, had a net 74.
The women’s par was 73 and the CSS 74.

Curtis Cup Scot Pamela Pretswell kept up her recent good form to finish the opening day of the British Women’s Open Amateur Stroke-Play golf Championship at Tenby, South Wales in a share of fifth place.
The Bothwell Castle GC player from Hamilton, pipped for the Austrian women's title a couple of weeks ago, shot a level par of 72 in windy conditions for the early starters and would have been that bit closer to Chrisje De Vries (Netherlands) and Amy Boulden (Maesdu) – joint leaders on 68 – had she not bogeyed the 15th and 18th.
Pamela also ran up a double bogey 6 at the 11th but, on the bright side, she had a bag of five birdies: at the long first, the third, the 10th, the 13th, and the long 14th in halves of 36.
Former Scottish champion Renfrewshire's Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm), Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) and Gillian Monteith (Portpatrick Dunskey) all hit the 78 mark.
Alyson McKechin’s effort was a good effort indeed, considering she had a triple bogey 7 at the third and a double bogey 6 at the 18th in halves of 41 and 37.
Majorca-based Scot Lauren Mackin (Past Ranfurly Castle Member) had a 79, one shot ahead of recent Riccarton Rosebowl winner Jane Turner (Craigielaw)who had a horrendous outward half of 43, including a triple bogey 7 at the ninth.

Kylie Walker shares 9th place after Round 1 of the Ladies Scottish Open

England’s Trish Johnson fired a three-under par 69 at Archerfield Links in East Lothian to take a one stroke lead over Christel Boeljon and Stacy Lee Bregman at the Aberdeen Ladies Scottish Open, presented by EventScotland.

The leading Scots challenge came from Kylie Walker, Mhairi McKay, Lynn Kenny and Krystle Caithness, who all shot 73 to share ninth place with Frenchwoman Caroline Afonso.

Kylie was out in 36 and back in 37. The Ladies European Tour rookie has had a nervy start to the season but feels that she just needs one solid week to keep her Tour card.

Susan Woods wins the SLGA Open Meeting at Banff

Drumpellier’s Susan Wood (pictured above) made the long haul up to Banff for today’s Scottish Ladies' Golfing Association County Open Meeting at Duff House Royal – and it proved a very worthwhile trip.
Susan matched the par and CSS with a good round of 72 to head a field of 75. She pipped Lanarkshire's County Captain Lesley Lloyd (Hayston) by one stroke with Aberdeenshire women’s County Champion, Sammy Leslie (Westhill) third with a 77.
In the Silver Division handicap section, Anne Keddie (Ladies Panmure Barry) won the top prize with a net 68 off 15, a shot ahead of Lanarkshire County Vice Captain Fiona Scott (Bothwell Castle) who plays off five.(Fiona was 3rd in the Scratch Section with a 74 but was awarded the 2nd Net Prize)---- Lanarkshire Stars were 1,2 and 3 !!!--- WELL DONE
The two prizewinners in the Bronze Division were Nita Dervish-Uman (Kemnay) and Florence Allan (Kemnay).
Nita and Florence both had scratch 98s. Nita had the better inward half to win the scratch trophy and Florence’s net 66 off 32 won her the handicap award.
This is Duff House Royal Golf Club's Centenary Year.

The Milngavie Ladies Section held an extremely successful Invitation Day on Sunday, August 15th.
25 members with 2 invited guests competed in a Tri-Am competition. The format was a stableford round, with the best 2 scores to count at each hole apart from the par 3s where all 3 scores were to count. There were also "nearest the pin in 2 shots" prizes, best front 9, best back 9, par 3 prize, 2s and a hidden hole. Thanks go to all the members who kindly donated these "fun prizes"
The weather was beautiful, the course was at its glorious best, and the buffet provided by Hugh and Ann was delicious.
All in all a marvellous day that was enjoyed by all and will be a permanent fixture in the calendar for the forseeable future.

Kylie is Top Scot in Wales

South Africa's Lee-Anne Pace won the S4C Wales Women's Championship of Europe, thanks to a final round 70.
Pace bounced back from carding a double bogey 6 at the first hole to finish on six under par and take victory by three shots at the Conwy Golf Club.
Kylie Walker had a great 2 under par last round.

Audrey Thomson wins the Scottish Barnado's Scottish Grand Final

Ayrshire's Audrey Thompson (Loudoun Gowf) won the Barnardo's Scottish Grand Final at Arbroath today (Friday) in "photo finish" with Penny Maxwell (Strathmore) and Fay Rodenburg (Braehead)
With 31 Stableford points apiece in very windy conditons, the three players headed a field of 43 qualifiers from club eliminators all over Scotland. Audrey plays off four, Penny has 33 of a handicap amd Fay plays off 18. The scorecard play-off went to the last nine holes to decree that Audrey was the winner.
Then it was to last six holes before Penny was declared the runner-up with Fay third.
Daphne Brill (Murrayshall), who plays off 10, finished a close-up fourth with 30pt. Here again there was a card countback with other players on the 30pt mark and Daphne got the nod on the best back nine.
The CSS on the day was 75, reduction only.

Ladies from Beith win the Ranfurly Castle Tri Am Open Day

The Ranfurly Castle Ladies Open Day (tri-am) took place on Monday 9th August with 53 teams taking part. The winning team was from Beith golf club, the runner's up were a team led by Ranfurly Castle member Laura Cawte with 2 guests from Old Ranfurly.
The raffle raised the fantastic sum of £650 for a Breast Cancer charity called White Lily.

THREE SCOTS QUALIFY FOR MATCH-PLAY STAGES

British girls open amateur championship at Royal Belfast Golf Club

Three Scots – Lesley Atkins (Gullane Ladies), Hannah McCook (Abernethy) and Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) – made it through among the 64 qualifiers for the match-play stages of the British girls open amateur golf championship at bright but breezy Royal Belfast Golf Club today (Tuesday).
Eilidh Briggs hit the limit mark of 155 with scores of 77 and 78 and had a long wait until the end play before the LGU organisers and their computer decreed that two Spaniards and a French player who had totals of 155 but the poorest second rounds – 80, 80 and 81 – would be eliminated.

British Girl's Championship-- 1st Round

Scotland’s Tartan Army of nine players in the field for the British girls open amateur golf championship could be reduced to two or three after tomorrow's second qualifying round at Royal Belfast Golf Club.

Only the leading 64 players out of 144 starters will go forward to the match-play stages and the forecast is that two rounds of 78 might just make it. Overnight those on the 78 mark are in joint 68th position.

That leaves only Scottish girls champion Lesley Atkins (Gullane Ladies) and Rachael Watton (Mortonhall) – both with five-over-par 75s – and Renfrewshire women’s champion Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm), who scored 77 – within the “safety zone” barring disasters on the second day.

Hannah McCook (Abernethy) is walking the tightrope on 79 while Rachael Taylor (Hartl Golf Resort, Germany) must improve on her 80 while Gabrielle MacDonald (Craigielaw), 83, and Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) and Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie Ladies), both with 84s, have the proverbial mountain to climb.

Gillian Simpson’s opening 99 has killed her hopes.

At the other end of the scoreboard, Alexandra Bonetti from Paris leads with a two-under-par 68 (two birdies and 16 pars) by one shot from Musselburgh-based Julie Yang whose 69 was unchallenged from noon until the French girl finished her round at 6.45pm.

The 15-year-old Maguire Curtis Cup twins had mixed luck. Leona had a 72 but Lisa a 79, which was one better than British women’s open champion Kelly Tidy from Bolton.

Lesley Atkins played tidly for a 75 (36-39). She bogeyed the third and fourth but came straight back with birdies at the fifth and sixth before she bogeyed the ninth.

She dropped shots at three of the par-3 inward holes, and ran up a double bogey 6 at the 15th. Bt she did birdied the 13th with an 8ft putt.

Rachael Watton took a while to warm up. She bogeyed the first, second and fourth before she got into her stride and birdied the fifth and eighth to be out in a promising 36.

Then she made a mess of the first three holes of the inward half - a bogey at the 10th, a triple bogey 6 at the short 11th and another bogey at the 12th.

But Rachel is not a quitter and, true to form, she hit back with a 2 at the short 14th - then dropped a shot at the 15th - but birdied the 16th - dropped a shot at the 17th - before finished with a birdie 4 at the long last hole.

A roller-coaster ride, indeed over the last five holes.

Eilidh Briggs' 77 was made up of steady halves of 38 and 39. She took started slowly with bogeys at the first, second and fourth, but, like Rachael Watton, Eilidh also settled to birdied the fifth and seventh. Bogeys at the sixth and ninth, owever, put her out in three over the card. She then had a bad run after the turn with bogeys at the 11t, 13th, 14th, 15th and 17th, before finished with a birdie at the last.

Rachael Taylor had halves of 43 and 37 for an 80 which included a quadruple bogey 8 at the third. She birdied the sixth and 18th.

Hannah McCook had a good outward half of 37 but spoiled it with 42 homefor a 79.

Gabrielle MacDonald had halves of 41 and 42 for an 83. She had back to back triple bogeys at the 11th and 12th. Her only birdie came at the 10th.

Alyson McKechin was out in 41 and home in 43 for an 84 while Ailsa Summers hit the 84 mark the other way round, 43 out, 43 back.

500 Years of Golfing History Successfully Tees Off at the National Library of Scotland

The history of golf is the focus of a unique exhibition at the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh, with the earliest known rules of the game featuring alongside many of the game's rarest artefacts.

A Swing Through Time exhibition was launched to coincide with the 150^th anniversary of the Open Golf Championship at St Andrews, and showcases some of the most iconic items in the history of the game. Over 200 items are on display, including letters, diaries, photographs, account books, portraits, trophies, written club records and early golf clubs and golf balls.

The exhibition features items from as far back as the 15^th century, highlighting the significant changes that altered the course of the game and the influences which guided its destiny, turning it into the game we know and love today.

Amongst the many golfing gems are the earliest known written rules drawn up in 1744 by the world's oldest golf club, The Company of Gentlemen Golfers, as well as the club's first ever minute book and the silver golf club donated by Edinburgh Town Council as a prize for its competition at the world-famous Leith Links.

The National Library of Scotland's Olive Geddes, curator of A Swing Through Time, said: "It is fantastic to be able to bring together, for the first time, some of the most important items relating to the formation and development of the game in Scotland. The origins of golf are a matter of mystery and controversy and only by piecing together the evidence of early documents can we gain a true insight into the earliest ages of the sport.

"The exhibition tells the story of golf over 500 years from its roots as a frivolous pastime, frowned upon by the authorities as dangerous and a nuisance, banned by both Parliament and the Kirk, through to its growing acceptance among the nobility and its popularity among the wider population."

A Swing Through Time exhibition is open to the public until Sunday, 14 November, at the National Library of Scotland, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh. Entry is free. For further information log onto www.nls.uk

Scotland Girls are Runners Up in the Home Internationals

England stormed to victory in the Girls’ Home Internationals at Bangor, Northern Ireland when they defeated Wales 9-0 on the final day of the matches.

Scotland beaten by England at the Girls Home Internationals

Scotland’s challenge for the Girls Home Internationals title nosedived on Day 2 at Bangor Golf Club, Northern Ireland today.
After a promising morning, when they shared the foursomes with title-holders England, the Scots had no answer to the skill of their opponents in the singles.
England won five out of six for a 6 ½-2 ½ victory to make them overwhelming favourites to win the Stroyan Cup for a third year in a row

Final Day at the English Open Strokeplay Championship

Musselburgh-based South Korean Julie Yang won the English women’s open strokeplay championship by two shots at Whittington Heath, Staffordshire, after a final round duel with Gloucestershire’s Charlotte Ellis.

English Open Strokeplay Championship --- Day 2

Teenagers Rachael Goodall and Charley Hull share the lead at the halfway stage of the English women’s open strokeplay championship at Whittington Heath, Staffordshire.
Both have returned two level par scores of 72 over the first 36 holes but Rachael, 19, (Heswall) was top qualifier for the remaining two rounds, by virtue of her last nine holes. She came home in one-under par 35, while 14-year-old Charley scored one-over 37.
They lead the top 36 qualifiers and ties – a total of 38 players – for the final 36 holes of the tournament. The cut, at the end of a blustery day when scores rose with the strengthening wind, fell on 10-over par 154.
First round leaders Kelsey MacDonald and Katherine O’Connor both returned second round scores of 74 and share third place, one shot behind the leaders.

Scotland Girls beat Wales on Day 1 at Bangor

England and Scotland start with wins at Bangor
Defending champions England made an impressive start to the Girls’ Home Internationals by beating Ireland 7 ½-1 ½ at Bangor Golf Club, Northern Ireland today.
In the other match, Scotland beat Wales 6-3 .

England took a grip on the outcome of their opening match by making a 3-0 clean sweep of the foursomes against the Irish.

They followed that up with wins in the singles by Elizabeth Mallett (6 and 5), Bronte Law (3 and 1), Lauren Taylor (2 holes) and Alexandra Peters (2 and 1).
The game between Georgia Hall (England) and Anna Courtney (Ireland) finished all square.

Elizabeth Mallett, still on a high from her victory last week in the English Girls’ Championship, was three up on Irish girls champion Laura Grant after five holes. She added further successes at the eighth, ninth and 10th to be six up and halves at the next three holes ended the match.

Bronte Law was twice two up on Sarah Kelly before the turn and then drew away from her opponent on the inward half. Law won the 11th and 12th to go four up but Helly was not ready to throw in the towel. The Irish player hit back with wins at the 14th and 15th to get it back to two down with three to play. Law clinched a 3 and 1 victory by winning the 17th.

Lauren Taylor was four down after six holes to Laura McCarthy but hit back hard to win the seventh, eighth, ninth, 11th and 12th, transforming her position into a one-hole lead.
McCarthy squared the seesaw match at the 16th but Taylor finished the better, winning the 17th and 18th for a two-hole victory.
Alexandra Peters and Paula Grant had a ding dong struggled for most of the way with only one hole in it either way when the game wasn’t at level pegging. All square on the 16th tee, Peters won the 16th and 17th for a 2 and 1 win.

Georgia Hall and Anna Courtney shared the honours after the English player held a two-hole lead at the eighth and again at the 11th. Courtney kept plugging away and was rewarded with a win at the 15th and another at the 17th to square the match. Appropriately, the 18th was halved in birdies. Neither player deserved to lose.
Ireland came out top in only one singles but it was a good one with Emma O’Driscoll winning the lead-off singles. She beat the English women’s champion Hayley Davis by 4 and 2 in a quality match studded with birdies. Emma won the first with the birdie but Hayley won the second and fourth with birdies.

O’Driscoll squared the match at the seventh and then took over the driving seat by winning the eighth, 10th and 11th to forge three up. Davis won back the 14th but the Irish player was not to be denied a memorable win. She won the 15th and 16th for victory.
Scotland carried over a 2pt morning lead into the singles against Wales and at one stage of the afternoon action, it looked as if they would need it resist the Welsh comeback in the singles.

Rachel Watton had an outstanding win for Scotland over Wales’ Amy Boulden in the top singles in that match. Boulden won the third and fourth but was quickly pulled back to square by Watton who won the fifth and seventh. Boulden edged ahead again at the 11th but the tenacious Scot squared it at the 14th then took the lead for the first time at the 16th. Halves at the last two holes gave Watton victory by one hole.

Katie Bradbury beat the new Scottish girls champion Lesley Atkins by 3 and 2 after striking early. The Welsh girl won the first two holes and added the seventh and ninth, without loss, to be four up at the turn.

Atkins found her form to win the 10th and 11th but Bradbury went back into a three-hole lead by capturing the 12th and four halved holes ended the match on the 16th green.
Chloe Williams scored the second win of the day for Wales, beating Alyson McKechin 5 and 4. The Welsh girl won the first, third, sixth, seventh and ninth to be a commanding five holes to the good at the turn. McKechin scores her only success of the afternoon at the 13th but lost to the 14th and the match.

Hannah McCook was a 7 and 5 winner for Scotland over Kelly Miller. After the first two holes were exchanged, Hannah won the fourth, fifth and sixth but lost the seventh to be two up on the ninth tee after a half at the eighth.
McCook suddenly raised her pace to win the next five holes in a row for the match, going from two up to seven up over the space of six holes.
Scotland were assured of at least a draw with 4 1/2pt in the bag but they got the match-winning point from Eilidh Briggs who beat the Welsh girls champion Rachel Lewis by 4 and 3 in the sixth singles.

Eilidh won the third, fourth, fifth and sixth but thereafter each hole was halved – seven in a row – until Rachel scored her only success at the 14th. Briggs won the 15th for victory.

The last match to finish – Ailsa Summers v India Friswell finished all square after the Welsh girl had led by two holes after 10 and again after 14. Ailsa, however, came back from two down with three to play to win the 16th and 17th and halve the last

Kelly Tidy looks to complete rare double at the 2010 Girls' British Open Amateur Championship

Kelly Tidy from Bolton has the opportunity to become only the third player in history to win both the Ladies' and Girls' British Open Amateur titles in the same year. The only other British player to achieve the feat was Mickey Walker from Leeds in 1972, while Spain's Belen Mozo also achieved the prestigious double in 2006 when both tournaments were played in Northern Ireland.

Kelly Tidy won the Ladies' British Open Amateur title at Ganton in June but is still young enough to compete in the Girls' Championship when it is played at Royal Belfast Golf Club from 9^th – 13^th August. Kelly, a Junior Solheim Cup and Junior Ryder Cup player, has twice lost in the final of the British Girls' Championship, once to Henrietta Brockway (England) at Southerndown in 2007 when she was 15 and also to Laura Gonzalez-Escallon (Belgium) in the 2008 final when the Championship was played at Monfieth. She did not play in last year's Championship as it clashed with the Junior Solheim Cup Match which she was competing in.

The Championship has once again attracted a top quality field and has had to be reduced by ballot to 144 players. Two strokeplay qualifying rounds will take place on Monday 9^th and Tuesday 10^th August to decide the top 64 qualifiers for the matchplay stages.

Perrine Delacoure (France) who won the title at West Lancashire Golf Club last year and Elizabeth Mallett (Sutton Coldfield Ladies') last year's runner-up and recent winner of the English Girls' Championship are both in this year's field and will be bidding to reach the final again.

Other notables include Lisa and Leona Maguire (Slieve Russell) who at 15 became the youngest ever Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup team players when they competed in the 2010 Curtis Cup and Hayley Davis (Ferndown) the winner of the 2010 English Women's Championship.

Julie Yang, the 15-year-old South Korean girl who has been based in Scotland since last September when she moved from Arizona to Musselburgh to become a pupil at Loretto School is also one to watch. Her titles this year include the Welsh Women's Open Amateur Stroke-Play, the Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish schoolgirls and the Danish Amateur Championship. She has since then also came through the qualifying process and played in the 2010 Ricoh Women's British Open at Royal Birkdale.

The overseas challenge includes entries from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Netherlands, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States.

Three of the girls named in the European Junior Ryder Cup team for the match against the United States on September 28-29 at Gleneagles are among the entries – Isabella Dellert (2010 European Girls' Young Masters' Champion), Manon Molle (France) and Kelly Tidy (Royal Birkdale).

The winner receives the Challenge Cup and the beaten finalist is awarded the Leven Trophy. The Lady Heathcoat-Amory Memorial Medal goes to the leading qualifier while vouchers will be awarded for the lowest scores in the qualifying rounds. The Todd Bowl is awarded to the lowest U16 player in the qualifying rounds while the lowest U14 player will receive a voucher. An international team event is also played in conjunction with the two stroke-play qualifying rounds.

Pamela Pretswell is second in the Austrian Open Amateur Championship

This week I have been playing in the Austrian Ladies International Championship at Murhof Golf Club http://www.murhof.at/ , the venue for the European Ladies Team Championship in 2011.

I took the opportunity to play in this European Ladies ranking event by flying directly from the International European Ladies' Amateur Championship at Golf & Spa Resort Kunetickà Hora in the Czech Republic, where I finished in 6th place with a 72 hole score of 3 under par. I am really grateful for the support provided by the Scottish Ladies Golf Association and our sponsors Aberdeen Asset Management which allowed me to play in these events.
I finished runner-up in this 72 hole championship with a final total of 9 under par. I scored a 6 under 66 in the first round, including 9 birdies, to lead the championship and followed that up with a par 72 and a 2 under 70 yesterday to lead by one shot at 8 under going into the final 18 holes. I shot a 1 under round of 71 today, including 2 birdies, for a 9 under par total of 279. Unfortunately, this was one shot more than winner Klara Spilkova (Czech Republic) who started in 4th place today and played in the group in front of me. Klara shot a 6 under 66 with 6 birdies over the final 13 holes, including birdies at 17 and 18 to finish one ahead on 278.

Although it was disappointing to be pipped at the post after leading throughout the championship, I have been delighted with the way that I have been playing during the last few weeks. I am starting to benefit from playing more regularly now that I have a summer break from my studies at Glasgow University and really pleased to score 12 under in my last 8 rounds. Looking forward to the rest of my season and to playing the Murhof course again with the Scottish Ladies team at the European Team Championship next year - and perhaps doing even better than the fantastic bronze medal that we won at La Manga, Spain in July.
