LOUDOUN GOWF PAIR WIN AYRSHIRE COUNTY WINTER FOURSOMES

From L to R - Liz Wilson (Captain) Aileen Anderson, Sheila Adams,
Helen Craig and Irene Papworth

Due to temporary greens in play at Prestwick St Nicholas, the final of the Ayrshire County Winter Foursomes was played over Kilmarnock Barassie.

When it was played in February— It was a dry but extremely cold day with everyone well wrapped up against the elements!

The final was between the Loudoun Gowf pair Aileen Anderson and Sheila Adams against the West Kilbride’s Helen Craig and Irene Papworth (Skelmorlie)

To the match itself, Helen and Irene got off to a flying start with a great putt to win the first hole.  However, Sheila and Aileen hit some great form, including a birdie at the Railway hole, to end the front nine 4 up!

They stretched their lead to 5 after the 11th but a fantastic fight back from Helen and Irene, winning 5 of the next 6 holes took them to the 18th all square.

Extra holes looked on the cards but a 2 putt from long range was good enough for Sheila and Aileen to win by one hole.

EMMA HALE IS LEADING QUALIFIER IN AYRSHIRE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

A total of 77 players battled against strong gusty winds at Prestwick Golf Club yesterday in the Ayrshire women's county qualifying round. Not surprisingly it was a reduction only outcome.
Unfortunately, last year's champion, Catherine Malcolm (Prestwick St Cuthbert), was unable to defend her title having to withdraw due to illness.
Emma Hale (Troon Ladies) repeated her performance from last year by finishing top qualifier with an excellent score in the testing conditions of 83. Jenny Linklater (Largs) was second scratch with an 85 but is unavailable for the match-play stages.

LOUDOUN GOWF CLUB RAISE £9,400 FOR AYRSHIRE CANCER SUPPORT

West of Scotland's Liz Keohone has been part of a fantastic group of golfers at Loudoun Gowf Club that have held a charity day over the past years at their golf club in Ayrshire -- It has been a lot of hard work but she and all the members are very proud of the work they have done -- as they should be.
Top winner of the raffle on May 31st was Ayrshire County team player Debbie Watt (Belleisle)  who won £500 !

Message back to the club from Ayrshire Cancer Support --

Huge thanks to everyone (the organisers, golfers, bar/catering staff, the gorgeous girls selling the raffle tickets, the photographer and to those who donated prizes, our apologises if we have missed anyone out) at Loudoun Gowf Club for once again delivering a first class Gowf competition on Sunday 31 May and for donating over £9,400.00 to ACS. Over the past 10 years Loudoun Gowf Club has donated over £100,000.00 from this annual event to Ayrshire Cancer Support, with added support from the Diageo Foundation who have fund-matched most of the donations made by Loudoun Gowf Club.
Words cannot express our gratitude not only to Loudoun Gowf Club and the Diageo Foundation but to everyone who has supported this event through the years. Your donation has helped hundreds of cancer patients, and we thank you sincerely on their behalf.
