Even a draw against Ireland would see England win the women’s home amateur international golf championship for the third year in a row at Dunbar Golf Club tomorrow.
The English snuffed out the challenge of Scotland’s young team with a 7 1/2-1 1/2 victory while Ireland, beaten by the Scots on the opening day, bounced back with a 7-2 win over Wales.
The writing was on the wall in capital letters for the Scots when England made a 3-0 clean sweep of the morning foursomes.
The 2 young players from the West of Scotland, Megan Briggs, 17, from Kilmacolm lost five holes in a row from the eighth to the 12th in losing by 4 and 2 to Elizabeth Bennett and Pamela Pretswell (Bothwell Castle) lost 3 and 2 to C Aitken
