KILMACOLM'S EILIDH BRIGGS SHOOTS A 6 UNDER PAR IN THE 1ST ROUND OF THE SCOTTISH JUNIOR OPEN STROKEPLAY

Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm),  set a hot pace with a six under par 67 in the first round of the Scottish Ladies' Junior Open Stroke Play Championship at Inverness Golf Club.

 The 20-year-old Scottish internationalist was four under par after six holes in the sunny conditions and went on to finish one stroke ahead of Carnoustie's Jessica Meek

Rachel Polson (Peterculter), a semi-finalist at the Scottish Ladies' Amateur Championship at Longniddry in May, was in third place on three under par 70 with Connie Jaffrey (The Ladies Golf Club Troon) on 72.

Connie Jaffrey won the 2013 Scottish Girls' Championship at Ranfurly Castle on Saturday - she continued her run of form with the one under par score on the first day of the 54-hole Championship.

Alyson McKechin (Elderslie), the Scottish Ladies' Champion, opened her bid for a double with a 77 while defending champion Nicola Callander (Mill Green) had an 83.
