Greenlees League 2011 is almost complete

The 2011 Greenlees fixtures are almost complete. I hope all the teams have enjoyed their matches although the weather has caused a bit of disruption with some of the fixtures. Greenock have been particularly unfortunate in the latter half of the season and have still to play 3 matches. There are 9 matches in all still to be played, 2 in Division1, 3 in Division 2 and 4 in Division 3.
I hope the teams involved have more luck with the weather than in recent weeks.

Division 1, has once more been a very closely run affair, and the Greenlees Trophy will be decided with the very last fixture to be played between Cathkin Braes and Prestwick St. Nicholas.
Cathkin Braes need 9 points to draw level with Milngavie who have completed their matches with 46.5 points.  --- A big ask!  ---   Good luck!  In 2009 and 2010 the Trophy was won by Milngavie,  - 2009 by half a point and last year by l point. Troon have one more match to play and they are still in a position to catch Cathkin Braes and finish 2nd to Milngavie and win the runner up Trophy. All very exciting.

Division 2 has been won by West Kilbride with a great total of 50 points, Largs second with 47.5.

Division 3 has been won by Loudoun Gowf with a amazing total of 54 points. Second place behind Loudoun Gowf has still to be finalised. Well done to both those teams and a very big congratulations to Loudoun Gowf who joined the Greenlees league this season and find themselves already a Division winner.

The Greenlees Lunch and presentation of Trophies takes place on 26th October at Whitecraigs GC and I look forward to seeing many of you there.
