TOP SEEDS ARE BEATEN AT THE GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP AT DUMFRIES

It was a day of shock results in the Scottish Under-18 (close) championship today at Dumfries and County Golf Club.
First, top seed Clara Young (North Berwick) was beaten by Claire Robertson (Carnoustie Ladies) - scroll down for a report of the morning play - and then came an even bigger form book upset in the quarter-finals.
Connie Jaffray (Troon Ladies), the defending champion, finalist in the recent Scottish women's championship and No 67 in the World Rankings, was knocked out by Mirren Fraser (Powfoot) - who does not figure on the rankings at all!
