CATHKIN BRAES ARE THE 2019 GREENLEES CHAMPIONS

Cathkin Braes played their final Greenlees Match today at home against Douglas Park. 
The home team only needed 3.5 points for victory but with a very strong team they defeated the visitors 8.5- 0.5 to win the title from Troon Ladies.

Douglas Park required only one point to remain in the 1st division, but this was not to be. The only highlight for them was Lindsay McLean having a HOLE IN ONE at the thirteenth hole. 


They are joined by Ranfurly Castle to be demoted to Division 2 in 2020. West Kilbride stay in Division 1 by virtue of a countback on matches won (2 points for a win and one point for a draw) 


In Division 2 Whitecraigs have finished on 43.5 points and Haggs Castle play Lenzie on Friday 27th and require a 7-2 victory to win the division. 
Please note : 2 points to be deducted from Cathcart Castle match against Old Ranfurly (A player did not turn up)

Cathkin Braes Greenlees Team on course to take the Title

Totals before the final tie 

Cathkin Braes beat Kilmarnock Barassie AWAY at Kilmarnock  yesterday 5.5 - 3.5
They now have their final match at home next week against Douglas Park.  3.5 points is required to win the title from Troon Ladies

Division 1:
Wed 25th September: Cathkin Braes v Douglas Park 

Division 2:
Thursday 19th September: Lenzie v Old Ranfurly 
Tues 24th September:  Whitecraigs  v Old Ranfurly

GREENLEES TROPHY UPDATE - REARRANGED FIXTURES

Greenlees Trophies
The 3 matches that were to be played on Monday 9th September were all postponed due to the home clubs having to close their courses because of the heavy rain.

The rearranged dates are as follows:
Division 1:
Wed 25th September: Cathkin Braes v Douglas Park 

Division 2:
Thursday 19th September: Lenzie v Old Ranfurly 
Tues 24th September:  Whitecraigs  v Old Ranfurly 
Fri 27th September : Haggs Castle v Lenzie

WHO WILL BE THE 2019 GREENLEES CHAMPIONS ???

The Greenlees Matches for 2019 are coming to an end with some very exciting fixtures to finish off the season.  

2 fixtures are left in Division One with Cathkin Braes having 2 games left and Kilmarnock Barassie one left -- Kilmarnock's  final match on the 16th September is against Cathkin -- Which could be the decider to win the title and trophy.
Douglas Park are hoping to get 1.5 points against Cathkin away to remain in Division 1 for next season. 

1st Division - Fixtures
9th September: Cathkin Braes v Douglas Park
16th September: Kilmarnock Barassie v Cathkin Braes

Division 1 -With 2 fixtures left

The 2nd Division has certainly been close with only  4 points separating the first 7 teams !!
Who will win there ??? -- Looks like -- Haggs Castle or Whitecraigs but who knows. !!
 Both teams have ONE fixture left -- both are Home matches

2nd Division - Fixtures
9th September: Whitecraigs v Old Ranfurly
9th September: Haggs Castle v Lenzie
16th September: Lenzie v Old Ranfurly

Division 2 with 3 matches to be played

3rd Division -- All matches are complete and Bothwell Castle are the winners. Further Calculations are needed for Hilton Park and Cowglen to see who are runners Up.

West of Scotland Greenlees Trophy Update -- All to play for

Divisional Totals 31st July 2019

In the contest for the 2019 West of Scotland Greenlees Trophy the 1st Division results could not be any closer.

At the end of July -- Milngavie are top on 28 points having played 6 matches out of 8. Cathkin Braes (Winners 2017) and Troon Ladies  (Winners 2018)are close behind and both still have 3 matches to play - as do Ranfurly Castle, Prestwick St Nicholas, and West Kilbride.

It looks as if it will be an exciting finish with Kilmarnock Barassie (Winners 2016)  Douglas Park and Williamwood still with 4 games to play.

In Division 2 Haggs Castle are currently top with 37 points with only one match to play  - with a close fight for promotion by the remaining teams.

In Division 3 after the withdrawal of Eastwood Golf Club (Closure of Club) Cardross is top in Division 3 but only have one more match to play while most of the teams have 3 or 4 games to go.

The West of Scotland Greenlees Trophy Matches begin today (Thursday 25th April) with Old Ranfurly playing Haggs Castle in Division 2.
Eastwood GC has resigned from the 3rd Division and Troon Ladies will be trying to retain the trophy they won last year

    GREENLEES CELEBRATIONS AT THE LADIES GOLF CLUB TROON AND CONNIE HOLDS THE COURSE RECORD AND EMMA IS THE CHAMPION

    The Ladies Golf Club Troon - Greenlees Trophy Winners 2018

    The Ladies Golf Club Troon celebrated coming first in Division One of the Greenlees Trophy  2018 with afternoon tea in the club house on Sunday.

    Connie Jaffrey is presented with a memento for her course record
    Valerie McColl (Captain) also congratulated Connie Jaffrey on her recent Portland Course record in a club medal of gross 66 in the October medal.

    Another celebration was for Emma Hale who won the Club Championship for the 5th time

    WEST KILBRIDE 2018 GREENLEES TEAM ARE ALL SMILES WITH THEIR RUNNERS UP TROPHY

    Some of the 2018 West Kilbride Greenlees Team


    West Kilbride's Greenlees team who were runners up to Troon Ladies in this years Greenlees Trophy were able to take a photo of some of the team out on the course yesterday in glorious sunshine.

    West Kilbride were Division 2 winners in 2014 and promoted to Division one. They then just missed relegation from Division one in 2015, 2016 and 2017 by being 3rd bottom each year. 

    As you can see they are therefore delighted to pick up the runners up award and trophy in 2018  -- Many congrats to you all.


    The players who were in the 2018 team were : Louise Duncan, Catherine Garrett, Claire McLaughlin, Jennifer Bell, Jocelyn Faris, Helen Craig, Sarah Ramsay, June Kerr, Christine Waĺlace, Kath Mackellar, Aileen Donaldson, Alison Baillie, Marion Robertson, Janette Mair. Eileen Atkinson (Captain)

    GREENLEES TROPHY PRESENTATION AND LUNCH

    Winners Division 3 (Sylvia Muir )- Ayr Bellisle ,  Greenlees Champions (Annie Howie) - Troon, 2nd Division Winners (Gillian McLeod) Williamwood and West Kilbride ( Helen Craig) - Runners Up Division 1
    The Annual Greenlees Lunch took place today, 18 October, at Cowglen Golf Club.
    This was attended by 51 ladies representing 22 clubs and 5 Clubs sent apologies.

    Greenlees Secretary Maureen Mitchell (Old Ranfurly) opened the proceedings by welcoming everyone to the 78th Anniversary Year of the Greenlees Trophy.
    She stated that it was unfortunate that our club members had been reduced as Cawder Golf Club had withdrawn from the league.

    She took the opportunity to remind the club secretaries that their lists of  players and the Greenlees fee were now due if they had not already sent them in.

    She then introduced the top table guests -  Pat Lunney, the Lady Captain of Cowglen, who welcomed everyone on behalf of the Club. 
    She then introduced Carol Fell and thanked her for setting up and keeping all the Greenlees results together and enabling everyone to be able to keep up to date with the league positions on the web.

    Next introduction was that of  Cowglen's Greenlees Secretary Pam Mather who had organised the lunch arrangements.
    She had  a band of helpers to assist the proceedings and the tables were named after some of the holes on the course --

    PLATEAU: Lanark and Lenzie
    GLEN : Top Table (Ranfurly Castle and Old Ranfurly)
    SOUTHVIEW: Cathcart Castle, Cathkin Braes, Ayr Bellisle and Douglas Park
    BRAEFACE: Prestwick St Nicholas, Kilmacolm, Eastwood and Whitecraigs
    RACECOURSE: Milngavie, West Kilbride, Hilton Park, Williamwood
    BANGORSHILL: Troon, East Renfrewshire and Greenock
    BEECHES: Cardross, Loudoun, Cowglen and Bothwell


    Pam said grace and the ladies were then served an excellent lunch.  

    Lots of pleasant chatter could be heard and it was obvious that everyone was enjoying catching up with old friends.

    After coffee was served, Maureen invited the Captain Pat to present the trophies to the winning teams.
    Division 3 was won by Ayr Bellisle with Williamwood winners of Division 2.
    The runners up in Division 1 were West Kilbride who were  beaten by the overall winners - Troon. Troon's Greenlees Secretary, Annie Howie then made a short speech and  a vote of thanks for all the hospitality received from Cowglen and thanked Maureen and her helpers for organising a very successful lunch.

    Cowglen Captain Pat and "Greenlees Webmaster " Carol were presented with beautiful flower displays from the top table that Maureen had made.

    Maureen then concluded by wishing everyone a safe journey home.

    The Greenlees Trophy Presentation and Lunch will take place at Cowglen Golf Club on Thursday 18th October at 12:30pm -- where 27 clubs will be represented (2 players per club) - Please note that Cawder withdrew from Division 3 at the beginning of the season.

    AYR BELLISLE WINS DIVISION 3 OF THE GREENLEES TROPHY


    The final matches and results are now completed for Division 3 of the Greenlees Trophy 
    Ayr Bellisle have won and are joined by East Renfrefrewshire to be promoted to Division 2.

    DOUGLAS PARK GOLF CLUB PROMOTED TO THE 1ST DIVISION OF THE GREENLEES TROPHY


    The deciding match of Division 2 of the Greenlees Trophy was played yesterday between Old Ranfurly and Lenzie.

    Lenzie needed 3.5 points to gain promotion with Williamwood the 2nd Division Champions.

    However. Old Ranfurly with the home advantage won 6.5 - 2.5 to deny Lenzie their wish.


    Douglas Park are 2nd in the division and now go to the 1st Division for next season

    LENZIE WIN 9-0 AGAINST HILTON PARK IN GREENLEES TROPHY TO SET UP BIG MATCH AGAINST OLD RANFURLY

    Greenlees Division 2 as of 9th September

    Lenzie had a big win against Hilton Park at home by winning 9-0 on Friday 7th September to leap them up to 3rd place in Division 2 of the Greenlees Trophy.

    They now meet Old Ranfurly (Away) in their final match on September 20th and need to secure 3.5 points to achieve promotion to Division One for next season.

    Williamwood are the Divisional Winners with Douglas Park in 2nd place.

    TROON WIN THE 2018 GREENLEES TROPHY

    Final Totals for Division 1 of the 2018 Greenlees Trophy

    The final matches in Division 1 of the Greenlees Trophy were played yesterday with Troon beating Prestwick St Nicholas 7-2 to win the title from West Kilbride who are the runners up.

    In the other match Kilmarnock Barassie beat Loudoun Gowf 5.5 - 3.5 and Loudoun are regulated to Division 2 with Haggs Castle

    WEST KILBRIDE TAKE OVER TOP SPOT IN GREENLEES TROPHY SHOW DOWN

    The final matches in Division 1 of the Greenlees Trophy take place this week with a show down between Prestwick St Nicholas and Troon
    Troon Ladies require  3.5 points to take the title and Prestwick St Nicholas need a 9-0 win.

     Kilmarnock Barassie and Loudoun Gowf is the other deciding match to avoid relegation or can Barassie move right up the field. -- We should all know soon !!

    GREENLEES TROPHY SHOWDOWN - FINAL MATCHES FOR VICTORY AND RELEGATION

    In the contest for the 2018 West of Scotland Greenlees Trophy the 1st Division results could not be any closer for the fight for victory and relegation.

    Milngavie have finished on 34.5 points and bottom of the division at the moment is Loudoun Gowf who still have 2 away matches to play and have 24.5 points
    Cathkin Braes the 2017 Champions are in 2nd position with 1 game to play - a home match against West Kilbride.

    West Kilbride, Prestwick St Nicholas and Troon also  have 2 matches to play and Cathkin Braes, Haggs Castle, Ranfurly Castle and Kilmarnock Barassie have one match each -- So all to play for -- Good Luck everyone.

    Greenlees Trophy Matches have started




    The 2018 West of Scotland Greenlees Trophy Matches are now underway with the 2015 holders of the title Kilmarnock Barassie winning their first match against Troon Ladies.

    Cathkin Braes the defending 2017 Champions will have their first match on the 21st May.

    GREENLEES LUNCH AND TROPHY PRESENTATION

    The Trophies
    The Annual Greenlees Lunch took place yesterday, 18 October, in the Old Course Ranfurly clubhouse.
    This was attended by 65 ladies representing 26 clubs.

    Mrs. Maureen Mitchell opened the proceedings by saying how pleased she was to see so many ladies attending.
    She took the opportunity to remind the club secretaries that their lists of 12 players and the Greenlees fee of £15 were now due if they had not already sent them in.
    Next she introduced the top table guests - Mrs Ann Dunn who was the previous Convenor who had worked hard for the League and had done all the work at the beginning of the season before Maureen took over.
    Her other guest was Mrs Hazel Kirkland, the Lady Captain of Old Ranfurly, who welcomed everyone on behalf of the Club.
    Maureen next said Grace and the ladies were then served an excellent lunch. Lots of pleasant chatter could be heard and it was obvious that everyone was enjoying catching up with old friends.

    After coffee was served, Maureen invited the Captain to present the trophies to the winning teams.
    Division 3 was won by Hilton Park with Prestwick Saint Nicholas winners of Division 2.
    The runners up in Division 1 were Loudoun Gowf who were narrowly beaten by the overall winners - Cathkin Braes. Their secretary, Barbara Aird, then made a short speech saying how enjoyable it was competing in the matches in a friendly spirit.
    She then gave a vote of thanks for all the hospitality received from Old Ranfurly and thanked Maureen and her helpers for organising a very successful lunch.

    The two guests were presented with the flowers from the top table.

    Mrs Mitchell then reminded the secretaries present that the AGM was being held on Tuesday, 21 November at Old Ranfurly.
    She concluded by wishing everyone a safe journey home.

    CATHKIN BRAES ARE THE 2017 GREENLEES CHAMPIONS

    The final match of the 2017 Greenlees Trophy took place on Monday 18th September with Cathkin Braes requiring 6.5 points to over take Loudoun Gowf to win the title. They were playing  the 2016 champions Milngavie in the deciding match. 
    Cathkin won 7.5- 1.5 at home to clinch the title from Loudoun.

    Prestwick St Nicholas (Division 3 winners in 2016) were convincing winners of Division 2 and are promoted to Division 1 next year alongside Haggs Castle.
