Past British Girl Champions at the Centenary British Championship

As a follow ion from "Blast from the Past" Wilma Leburn ( nee Aitken)  (Old Ranfurly) has also had a fantastic day at Panmure Golf Club being part of the Centenary event with the past British Girls champions  ---- She won the British Girls Championship in 1977 
She has had a lovely day with Suzanne Cadden (Cardross) and former Renfrewshire player Maureen Richmond ( nee Walker) - was Kilmacolm  who won in 1972

The Girls’ Amateur Championship was first played in 1919 and celebrates its centenary this year. Four former Girls’ Amateur Champions were named in the European Solheim Cup team this week: Georgia Hall, Suzann Pettersen, Anna Nordqvist and Azahara Munoz.

The winner of this year’s championship will receive exemptions into Final Qualifying for the 2020 AIG Women's British Open, the Women’s Amateur Championship at Kilmarnock (Barassie) and the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship.

Ranfurly Castle Tri Am Open day Results

The Ranfurly Castle Ladies Open day Tri-Am was held on Thursday 18th July.  
90 ladies took part in the event and the weather proved better than expected with only a few showers but a very stiff wind.

Two scores from three to count with all three scores at the 18th.

Runners Up: Lilias Lamont, Libby Pow and Alison Templeton

Prize Winners: 

1st: Evy MacGregor (Ranfurly Castle), Carol Fell (Douglas Park) and Gilly MacRae (Troon Ladies) 78 points
2nd: Alison Templeton (Ranfurly Castle), Libby Pow (Ralston) and Lilias Lamont (Old Course Ranfurly) 74 bih
3rd: Gillian McGinlay (Troon Ladies ), Jean Sloan (Troon Ladies) and Rona Lockie (Troon Ladies) 74

Nearest  the pin at 5th : Olive Leitch (Cathcart Castle),

Prizes were presented by Lady Captain Jan Macnab.  The raffle raised the wonderful sum of £413.00 which will be donated to Mencap Charity.

Julie Wilson takes top spot at Williamwood and Sandra Littlejohn has a Hole in One

40 players played in Renfrewshire Ladies' County Golf Association July Medal over Williamwood Golf Course yesterday.

Home player Julie Wilson took the top spot with a 2 over CSS score of 75 with a better inward half from Gillian Kyle (East Renfrewshire).

In the handicap Section (Scratch - 12)  Anne Judge (Ranfurly Castle) was the winner of Division 1 by virtue of the better inward half from Carol Fell (Douglas Park) and overall winner of the medal with a nett 71

Marion Munro (Ranfurly Castle) took the top spot in Division 2 (Handicap 13+)

Highlight of the day was Vice Captain Sandra Littlejohn's Hole in One at the 2nd hole and now wins a HowDidIDo Boss Watch

Jan Macnab wins the Renfrewshire County Medal over Old Ranfurly

The Renfrewshire Ladies County June Medal was at Old Ranfurly Golf Club today 

 Ranfurly Castle player Jan Macnab Ranfurly Castle (pictured  left), playing off 10, came in with a fabulous gross score of 82, nett 72, winning both Scratch and Division 1 (0-12 handicaps) with Fiona Armour (Renfrew) (pictured right) winning Division 2 (13 - 30 handicaps) with a nett 76.

DOUGLAS PARK GOLF CLUB PROMOTED TO THE 1ST DIVISION OF THE GREENLEES TROPHY


The deciding match of Division 2 of the Greenlees Trophy was played yesterday between Old Ranfurly and Lenzie.

Lenzie needed 3.5 points to gain promotion with Williamwood the 2nd Division Champions.

However. Old Ranfurly with the home advantage won 6.5 - 2.5 to deny Lenzie their wish.


Douglas Park are 2nd in the division and now go to the 1st Division for next season

LENZIE WIN 9-0 AGAINST HILTON PARK IN GREENLEES TROPHY TO SET UP BIG MATCH AGAINST OLD RANFURLY

Greenlees Division 2 as of 9th September

Lenzie had a big win against Hilton Park at home by winning 9-0 on Friday 7th September to leap them up to 3rd place in Division 2 of the Greenlees Trophy.

They now meet Old Ranfurly (Away) in their final match on September 20th and need to secure 3.5 points to achieve promotion to Division One for next season.

Williamwood are the Divisional Winners with Douglas Park in 2nd place.

FIONA McPHEE WILL REPRESENT SCOTLAND AT TURNBERRY

This Wednesday and Thursday sees Old Ranfurly Ladies Club Champion Fiona McPhee representing Scotland at Turnberry in the Howdidido Titleist Order of Merit final !

Fiona managed to top the standings in Scotland this year earning her the right to go through to the final with 3 other ladies from each home nation to fight it out for a custom fit full set of clubs.

She will play a round on each course and get an overnight stay in the hotel for reaching the final, a magnificent achievement showing consistency all year !

Fiona won’t just be playing for herself this week, along with one lady from each country, the top 3 gents qualify so they will compete in a team event as well over the links on the South Ayrshire coast.

2,000 ladies from across the UK have now came down to 4... from everyone at the Old Course Ranfurly we wish you the best of luck Fiona

Ayrshire and Renfrewshire Players pipped in the Commonwealth Spoon Finals

 and Marilyn Muir and Muriel Young (Renfrewshire )


Margaret McGregor (Lochmaben) and Sheila Townsley (Dumfries and County), representing Dumfriesshire 1, won the Commonwealth Spoons Grand Final at Alyth Golf Club today.
In the foursomes format, they had a net score of 72.5 off 13.5 of a combined handicap to head a field of 44 pairs who qualified via various regional competitions.
They won by 0.5 of a stroke from runners-up Ayrshire 1 (Margaret Dalziel and Emma Thomson, both Loudoun Gowf Club members) who scored 73 off 16.
Renfrewshire 3 (Marilyn Muir and Muriel Young of Old Ranfurly) also had a total of 73 off 13 but they were placed third after a countback.

MAIL ON SUNDAY 2012 HAS STARTED

Douglas Park beat Cowglen to-day at Douglas Park. The match was tied two and a half each and was decided by the final game going to extra holes.  The result is as follows:-

Helen Faulds  (5)  beat  Fiona Cameron  (11)  1 up and then won the tie break at the 2nd extra hole

The other match played today was between Kilmarnock Barassie and Loudoun Gowf at Kilmarnock Barassie. The AWAY team from Loudoun Gowf won 3.5 - 1.5.

On Thursday 16th February  Ranfurly Castle beat Old Ranfurly 3 - 2 in the match played over the Old Course Ranfurly

Both went round in 76, Megan came back in 36 and Lesley in 37. The Team was Megan Briggs, Clare-Marie Carlton and Alyson McKechin with an aggregate 230. (pictured above) Dunbartonshire & Argyll were second with 236. It was very lucky that they were able to play on a glorious autumnal day - the day after the course was closed! Thanks go to The Old Course Ranfurly for allowing us courtesy of their course and to the staff who looked after everyone so willingly. Many thanks to Captain Derek MacDougall who came along to present the prizes.
