Greenlees Trophy Divisional Results
Report by Greenlees Secretary Anne Dunn

We had a very nice lunch at Cardross on Tuesday 21st October with about 50 people attending. The Lady Captain made a lovely welcoming speech saying that the Greenlees League came third after Scotland's other two outstanding sporting events - The Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup!!!

We had a delicious meal and finished with the Presentation of Prizes. All the winners spoke after they received their cups and all were very proud of their achievement, particularly Cathkin Braes. I think their celebrations at their club will go on into 2015!!

Despite this being my third lunch as Greenlees Secretary I do not find it gets any easier.

Here is Anne's Speech

Firstly I would like to welcome Senga, the Lady Captain of Cardross and thank her for her very kind words of welcome and for finding the time to join us for lunch.

Secondly I would like to thank the Club Captain and committee for allowing us to hold this function here and for their very kind donation of wine both on arrival and during the lunch.

Thirdly, and most importantly I would like to thank Margaret Stirling for all her hard work in organizing this lunch today. I am sure she is relieved to think that it will only be another 27 years till she has to do it all over again!!
I would like to pass on Carol Fell’s apologies for being unable to attend the lunch today but I am afraid family circumstances make it impossible. If anybody has photographs of today could you please send them to her.
Now to the Presentation of Prizes.

Division Three
Williamwood had a spectacular season gaining 61 points and a very well deserved move up to Division 2.
Ayr Belleisle is moving up with them – well done the new comers.

Division Two
This was a closer fought division but West Kilbride came out the very worthy winners with 45 points.
The will be moving up to Division 1 in the company of Whitecraigs.

Division 1
What a surprise after having the same winner for five years we have new winner this year – Cathkin Braes. They have been knocking on the door for a few years and this year finally made it. Congratulations.
Finally the runners up, Milngavie but I am sure there will be a fight back next year.

Final Results :

SKELMORLIE ARE IN THE PINK !

PINK MEDAL – FRIDAY the 19th SEPTEMBER
One of the best turnouts we have had for any competition this year with 23 ladies taking part. Add in the 26 men who played their own competition throughout the day and you get a course and clubhouse which were ablaze with good humour, amazing pink outfits and lots of laughs. Everyone was extremely generous and the final total raised from all our fundraising efforts both on the day and from collections at West College Scotland, Greenock Campus, were a fantastic £1600 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity – a very worthwhile cause.

Thanks go to Gillian Pollock (Lady Captain of Skelmorlie Golf Club) for the report and photograph.
