Alford's Laura Murray holed an uphill 15ft birdie putt on the Old Course's 18 th green to win a sudden-death play-off climax in the evening sunlight after 8pm to the St Rule Trophy women's amateur golf tournament at St Andrews.

The 21-year-old punched the air in delight as her ball disappeared in the hole to beat 16-year-old Welsh international Amy Boulden from Llandudno.
West of Scotland's Pamela Pretswell leader by one with a first-round, five-under-par 70 over the New Course, slipped out of the pole position with an outward half of 42 over the Old Course in miserable morning conditions of rain, wind and cold.
However, Pamela came back in 35 – three under par – to salvage a 77 – one over the ladies’ par for the Old Course – to total 147 for 36 holes

Pamela Pretswell shows Curtis Cup class to lead with a 70

Glasgow University student Pamela Prestswell from Hamilton, one of only two Scots in the Great Britain & Ireland team for the Curtis Cup match against the United States from June 11 to 13 at Essex County Club, Massachusetts, showed her class by leading the star-studded St Rule Trophy international field over the New Course, St Andrews today.
Pamela, a Bothwell Castle Golf Club member, who has played little competitive golf since last Septemer’s home internationals at Irvine, shot a five-under-par 70 to lead by one stroke from repeating Welsh champion Tara Davies (Holyhead) and last year’s Australian champion, Justine Lee.

Want to be a Scorer at the Scottish Ladies Open

Anyone interested in scoring this year at the Scottish Ladies Open?
The Tournament is to be held at the Archerfield in East Lothian 18th - 20th August 2010. Lynn Mitchell is working with Alec and George (chief marshal) this time and so far feeders have been put out to recruit around the local area. They are still unable to verify numbers coming in from that yet but she would still if possible like to have on board some experience in the ranks!
The format as you will see from the information letter below is slighly different from the Carrick. She hopes to use an am/pm rota 'set up' working all 3 days but will also incorporate a cover system and HQ reserves. It is a beautiful course and a very friendly set up.

The drive is approx an hour and thirty/forty minutes from Glasgow.

She would appreciate if you could reply ASAP and/or pass on these details to anyone who you think may be interested.

The Dentist and the Golfer

The man said to the dentist, "Doc, I'm in one heck of a hurry. I have two Buddies sitting out in my car waiting for us to go play golf, so forget about the anesthetic, I don't have time for the gums to get numb. I just want you to pull the tooth, and be done with it! We have a 10:00 AM tee time at the best golf course in town and it's 9:30 already... I don't have time to wait for the anaesthetic to work!'

The dentist thought to himself, "My goodness, this is surely a very brave Man asking to have his tooth pulled without using anything to kill the Pain."

So the dentist asks him, "Which tooth is it sir?"
The man turned to his wife and said, "Open your mouth Honey, and show him.

Thanks go to West Girls Webmaster Anne Wallace for that one
