HANNAH, LOUISE AND ELAINE WIN THE 2018 SCOTTISH ORDER OF MERIT TITLES

From the Scottish Golf Website

The female trio of Hannah McCook, Louise Duncan and Elaine Moffat are celebrating after winning their respective domestic 2018 Order of Merit titles.
Winner of the women’s title for the third year-in-a-row, Hannah McCook’s impressive season included phenomenal back-to-back victories at both the Irish and Welsh Women’s Open Stroke Play Championship, a semi-final finish in the Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship at Elie and a top-5 finish at the St Rule Trophy.
Grantown-on-Spey’s McCook also enjoyed success on the team front, playing a pivotal role in Scotland’s first Women’s Home Internationals victory since 2010 at Ballybunnion, Ireland.
Following her victories, McCook said “I’ve won a couple of University events, but this is the first time I have found some form in an International sense. At the beginning of the year my goal was to win but to have done so twice in a row was just amazing.”
Louise Duncan

At the girls’ level, West Kilbride’s Louise Duncan topped the rankings after a fantastic season which included victory in the Fairhaven Trophy, runner-up in the Xact Scottish Girls Amateur Championship and a total of seven top-10 finishes.
Elaine Moffat

In the seniors, Elaine Moffat (St Regulus Ladies) came out on top after a fine season which included three victories in six events. Moffat’s wins included the Scottish Senior Women’s Match-play Championship, the Midlands Regional Vets Championship and the SVLGA Championship.

JESSIE DONALDSON 1923 - 2018 (WILL BE MISSED BY MANY)

Jessie Donaldson (right) with her good friend Nancy Chisholm
at the 2014 County Jamboree at Haggs Castle

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of Ayrshire's Jessie Donaldson who was 95 years of age.

Her funeral is a Holmsford Bridge Crematorium next Friday the 16th November at 12:30 pm - GLASGOW HERALD NOTICE

JESSIE DONALDSON
1923 - 2018 ( by daughter in law - Aileen Donaldson)

Jessie whose Home club was West Kilbride was also a member of Ayr Belleisle for a time and an active member of Ayrshire Ladies County Golf Association.

She was the Ladies’ Captain of West Kilbride in 1963.

She captained the West Kilbride Greenlees Team with a rod of iron throughout the 70’s. Her motto always was the team came first – no excuse not to play was ever good enough. And to come in after a match to report a lost match was just unthinkable.

Captain of Ayrshire LCGA then President in the late 80’s early 90’s she travelled throughout the West of Scotland flying the flag of encouragement for ‘her team’

She also attended and played in several Scottish Championships as far afield as Machrihanish, Southerness and Dornoch where she entertained and encouraged the ‘new girls on the block’. She will be remembered by many for leading the traditional party night singing with versions of songs, concocted by husband Tommy and herself, to traditional ballad tunes.

Until her stroke in 2007 she was still playing and enjoying competitive golf and would never miss her annual trip to the Banff Week where she met so many of her old friends and made many new friends.
