JENNIFER LYNAGH IS THE FIRST JUNIOR TO WIN THE CALDWELL LADIES CHAMPION


The Caldwell Club Championship was played yesterday (1st August) after the best 2 qualifying scores were taken from 3 medals played over the last three Wednesday's in July 

Up and coming Renfrewshire County Junior Jennifer Lynagh  the 2019 West of Scotland Bronze Champion and West of Scotland 2019 Handicap Trophy Winner reached the final with her best 2 gross scores which included a Gross 78 - 12 net 66 (6 under PAR!) -- Fantastic score.

In the final she played Liz Hale and won 4&3 and became the first Junior to ever win the Ladies' Championship

Jennifer said " I was up against her and it was a great match" --"Liz has supported me a lot since I joined the club and I am so grateful for everything she’s done for me"

A name for the future to follow -- Jennifer had a handicap of 35 in 2018  and his now down to 11 -- Well done Jennifer

Megan Docherty is the 2019 West Girls Champion

The West Girls Championship was played today over Troon Portland. 
Prize winners were presented their trophies by the Ladies Golf Club Captain Helen Convery.

The Championship Semi Final results : 
 Megan Docherty (Bishopbriggs) beat Sophie Murphy (Clydebank and District) 3&2 
 Luisa Gibson (Irvine) beat Rachel Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas) 3&1 


Championship Final- Megan Docherty  (Bishopbriggs) beat  Luisa Gibson  (Irvine) - 2&1


Bronze Championship: 
Jennifer Lynagh (Caldwell) beat Neve Marshall (Cathkin Braes) 4/2

West Girls win the Portland Cup against Troon Ladies

Orla Rooney wins the 2019 Renfrewshire Junior Championship and the Campbell Clock Stableford

Campbell Clock winner Orla Rooney [Cowglen]
with Whitecraigs Lady Captain Helen Daye

Nine girls participated for the Renfrewshire County Junior Campbell Clock Stableford competition over 18 holes, at Whitecraigs Golf Club yesterday afternoon (25th August). 

This was won by Orla Rooney (Cowglen) with a fabulous 41 points. 

Jennifer Lynagh (Caldwell) with 37 points won 2nd prize winning in the BIH over 3rd prize winner Ava Graham (Paisley). 

Orla also won the Junior County Championship trophy --  this was awarded to the best 18-hole gross score,

RENFREWSHIRE WIN THE WEST OF SCOTLAND KENNEDY SALVER

The Junior West of Scotland Kennedy Salver was  played today at East Renfrewshire Golf Club

The Renfrewshire team listed below were the winners with a clean sweep in both the foursomes and singles.  --
Lanarkshire the 2017 and 2018 winners were the runners up.

The Kennedy Salver is on the 20th June - Some juniors have a practice round

The Renfrewshire Juniors had a practice round over East Renfrewshire Golf Club yesterday. -- "Thanks to East Renfrewshire Golf Club for courtesy yesterday afternoon for the girls to see the course ahead of the Kennedy Salver on Thursday 20th June. "

The course was in lovely condition and we were lucky to have a sunny afternoon with light winds. The girls took part in a tri-am format for the first 12 and then a greensomes to finish over the last 6 holes. Some lovely golf on display and it was worthwhile for those girls that were available to help with locating some of the hazards and club selections.

Everyone is looking forward to the the Junior West of Scotland Kennedy Salver and hope as many supporters can make it along on the day.

RENFREWSHIRE COACHING SESSION AT COWGLEN GOLF CLUB

18 Renfrewshire girls braved the cold morning to practise their golf at Cowglen Golf Club yesterday. 
They were divided into 3 groups and rotated between pitching into an inflatable fish!! and long game drills in the covered bays.

Then putting challenges indoors with a rules quiz to follow. 

New friends were made considering the level of chatter and everyone seemed to enjoy the session. 
Grateful thanks go to Cowglen Golf Club for giving us the courtesy of their fabulous facilities and our volunteer coaching team of Clair, Lynda and Liz. 

The next session will be held at Caldwell Golf Club on February 24th. Details will be sent out nearer the time.

Junior RLCGA Secretary Gillian Kyle took 12 Renfrewshire Junior girls to have coaching with Clare-Marie Macaulay at Paisley Golf Club yesterday. Preparing for the season ahead!

They all had a good time & Clare Marie had put in a lot of preparation






Clare-Marie  said "I had fantastic afternoon coaching the Renfrewshire County Girls. Great to see so much talent coming through & the amount of fun they have practising together."

We all remember Olympian Michael Phelps' monster 153-foot putt at Kingsbarns Golf Links in the 2012 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, incredible scenes! The competitors at our inaugural Kingsbarns Girls Classic tried their luck, let's see how they got on!

CLACKMANNAN AND COUNTY WIN THE INAUGURAL KINGSBARNS GIRLS CLASSIC

Stirling & Clackmannan County’s Eva Woodward and Natalie Fowler, won the inaugural Kingsbarns Girls Classic yesterday. 

 It was a great day with girls across all Scotland’s counties playing one of the best courses in the country.

Professional Heather McCrae (Stirling Golf Club) held a fantastic coaching clinic for the girls.

ROMY ERSKINE KILMACOLM DEFENDS THE RENFREWSHIRE CAMPBELL CLOCK AT WHITECRAIGS

Bottom - Romy Erskine (The 2017 Winner with Gillian Kyle) 

The  RLCGA Junior Campbell Clock and other Junior competitions (8 holes and Par 3) , takes place at Whitecraigs Golf Club on Sunday 26th August 2018 from 2 pm.

Romy Erskine (Kilmacolm) the 2018 Scottish U18 Handicap winner who has cut her handicap from 11 to 6 this season will be defending her 2017 title.
