Aberdeenshire and Renfrewshire both won their opening matches in the Scottish women's county golf championship finals at Stirling Golf Club today.
Despite Renfrewshire lacking the services of Eilidh Briggs who is playing in the European Universities Championships in France, Scottish champion Alyson McKechin, Megan Briggs, Carol Whyte and Katrina Milne were winners in both foursomes and the singles
Renfrewshire had a 7-2 win against Borders, the weakest of the four qualifiers.
Aberdeenshire, lacking the services of Sheena Wood, still travelling back to Scotland from the Senior British Open championship which ended at Royal Portrush on Thursday evening, did well to make up a 2-1 deficit from the foursomes and beat recent past champions Midlothian 5-4.
