Curtis Cup player Shannon McWilliam from Aboyne missed qualifying for the match-play stages of the British women's open amateur championship at Hillside Golf Club, Southport today.

But Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey), Gemma Batty (West Linton) and Chloe Goadby (St Regulus)  gave Scotland three representatives in the 64 players who advanced after two stroke-play rounds.

One of the early starters in the second round of stroke-play, Shannon repeated her opening score of 79 and, with a total of 158, there was no way she was going to finish the day in the leading 64

Scottish champion Gemma Batty, out late today, ran up an 8 in a second-round 78 for 151 but qualified
Goadby improved from a 76 to a one-under-par 71 for 147, six strokes inside the limit mark.
McCook made it through comfortably with scores of 76 and 73 for 149 but former Scottish champion Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) shot  pair of 77s for 154, one stroke too many.
Shannon McWilliam was not the only Curtis Cup player to miss out on the match-play stages. India Clyburn (Woodhall Spa) shot 82-74 for 156, three shots too many.
