Catherine Malcolm (Prestwick St Nicholas) leads the 16 qualifiers for the 2011 Ayrshire Ladies County Golf Association Championship, which began at Largs GC today Tuesday 12th April.
With players struggling to master the slick greens at the Kelburn course, Malcolm's 7 over par score of 80 was good enough to qualify in first place for the matchplay stages for the second year in succession, two strokes ahead of Jennifer Linklater (Largs) and Jane Finnie (Troon Ladies).
The best nett score of the day, by two shots, was recorded by Rachael Irvine, of the host club, who returned 87 - 14 = 73.
The matchplay stages take place at Largs on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th April. For the results of todays qualifying round click on the link below
