JILLIAN FARELL REACHES SCOTTISH GIRLS FINAL

Jillian Farrell (Photo courtesy of Scottish Golf)
Professional's daughter Jillian Farrell (Cardross), the No 2 seed, will play the fourth-seeded Hannah Darling (Broomieknowe) in Wednesday's 18-hole final of the Scottish U18 girls' amateur golf championship at Scotscraig Golf Club, Fife.
In today's (Tuesday) semi-finals, Darling KO'd the leading qualifier Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) by 2 and 1, birdieing the 11th, 15th and 17th to win a match with level par figures after being two down at the turn.
Farrell beat Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne), also by 2 and 1, after winning two of the first three holes and being two up at the turn. McWilliam, who bogeyed four of the first eight holes, squared the contest with a birdie at the 10th and a par at the 12th.
But Farrell countered with a birdie 2 at the 13th to regain the lead and she went two up again with a par at the 15th. The remaining holes were halved.
Farrell was roughly one over par at the finish.

West of Scotland's Louise Duncan and Jillian Farrell into Semi Finals of the Scottish Girls Amateur Championship

Top four Scottish U18 girl seeds reach  Tuesday's semi-finals at Scotscraig

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
The seedings have worked out perfectly in the Scottish U18 girls championship match-play at Scotscraig Golf Club, Fife.
All four top seeds are through to tomorrow's semi-finals in which No 1 Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) plays No 4 Hannah Darling (Broomieknowe), while No 3 Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne) plays Jillian Farrell, the No 2 seed from Cardross.
In this morning's quarter-finals, McWilliam was a 6 and 5 winner over the other North-east player in the last eight, Jasmine Mackintosh (Hazlehead), the sixth seed.
Said Shannon later: "To be fair, we both didn't play our best golf! I just stuck to par golf but I have two doubles and finished two over on the 13th!"
"Getting to the semi-finals equals my best performance in this competition. That year (2016) I was beaten  by Fiona Liddell, who then went on to win the Scottish girls' title."
Duncan won by 5 and 4 against Swiss-based Cameron Neilson, the No 9 qualifier, and Darling was a 3 and 1 winner over the No 5 qualifier, Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore).
Farrell was taken to the 17th by No 7 seed Molly Richmond (Strathaven) who lost by 2 and 1 after being one down through the 15th

WEST KILBRIDE'S LOUISE DUNCAN LEADS THE FIELD IN THE GIRLS AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

In the Scottish Girls Amateur Championship - (over Drumoig and Scotscraig)  there was an impressive leader with West Kilbride’s Louise Duncan setting the pace on four-under-par 69. Duncan actually fired eight birdies in a topsy-turvy round, before having to settle for -4.
Duncan leads by five from a trio of players on one over, namely Kirsty Brodie from Strathmore, Hannah Darling (Broomieknowe) and another in-form player, Jillian Farrell from Cardross.
Darling’s effort featured four birdies and an eagle on the 11th and she said: “A lot of putts dropped today which I was really happy about. To win this week would be my aim, but I just want to do as well as I can. If I play my my own game and it’s not good enough, at least I’ve tried my best.”
The top 16 progress to the knockout stages in the girls’ event, in both scratch and nett championships.

Marshals Required at the Ladies Scottish Open at Dundonald

The Ladies Scottish Open starting on the 27th July will be one of the highest profile Ladies events ever held in Scotland outside of the Majors.

With prize money trebled from last year to 1.5 million Euros and sponsored jointly by The LPGA and The LET it is expected to attract 25 of the top 30 players from these tours.

Dundonald Links was designed by Kyle Phillips who also completed the Links at Kingsbarns where the week following the Scottish the British Ladies will be held. An ideal preparation which will have a great appeal to many of the players.

Marshals are required where they will be operating in one of 9 zones covering greens and tees giving an opportunity to see the players at close hand. Ideally volunteers should be available for at least 3 playing days of the event. I have attached to this message a registration form.

Should any further information be required please contact; Alex Littlejohn The Chief Marshal alex@dts-international.com
