STIRLING AND CLACKMANNAN PAIR WIN COMMONWEALTH SPOONS

Stirling and Clackmannan's Mhairi Hall and Margaret McFarlane won the SLGA's Commonwealth Spoons foursomes grand final at Forres Golf Club today.
In windy, sometimes wet conditions, they headed a field of 45 pairs who qualified through their counties' competitions.
Mhairi and Margaret had a net score of 73 off eight and won by the narrowest of margins - half-a-shot - from Dawn Butchart and Emily Ogilvy (Perth and Kinross) (3.5) and Fiona Ford and Barbara McGregor (Midlothian) (15.5). Dawn and Emily were placed second with the better inward half.
Fife's Irene Morrison and Janet Thompson, playing off 13, finished fourth with a net 74 while Barbara Duguid and Pat Forsyth (Midlothian) came fifth with a net score of 75.5 (better inward half) off 17.5.
