Message from Laura McLardy to Kilmacolm and some photos from the day

Kilmacolm Mail on Sunday Team - Click to enlarge
Laura McLardy from Murcar (the Winners of the Mail on Sunday tie against Kilmacolm) - sent Anne Dunn the Kilmacolm Mail on Sunday Captain a wee note to say ---
We enjoyed hosting you at Murcar at the weekend, and are glad you enjoyed your trip. I think it's true to say that we all thoroughly enjoyed our games - including those of us who lost to Eilidh and Megan!! I will do my best to take you up on your offer of a game at Kilmacolm if I can - given that's where I played in my first Scottish Girls Championship when I was 12 (quite a while ago!!) it would be nice to revisit it, since my memory of the course is a little hazy.

We'll do our very best to fly the Scottish flag successfully at Manchester. Fingers crossed!

To see some Photos from the day You can see some photos that Anne Dunn took by clicking on the following link Murcar Links v Kilmacolm -- Mail on Sunday
Alternatively to see a slideshow of the days event CLICK HERE
Anne apologises for missing out Laura McLardy and Carol Wilson in the photos but they are there in the general after match pictures

Kilmacolm just lose out to Murcar Links in the Mail on Sunday

Murcar Links are through to the last eight of the Mail on Sunday women's inter-club championship.
The North-east club team beat Kilmacolm 3-2 at Murcar Links in very windy conditions yesterday
The Briggs sisters,Eilidh and Megan playing at No 1 and No 5 in the "batting order" for Kilmacolm, won their ties but wins by Carol Wilson, Shona Anderson and Susan Murray in the middle-order matches enabled Murcar Links to reach the last eight.
The quarter-finals will be played at Marriott Worsley Park, Manchester on Monday, September 22.
Saturday's details:
MURCAR LINKS 3, KILMACOLM 2
Laura McLardy lost to Eilidh Briggs 1 hole.
Carol Wilson beat Sally Foster 3 and 2.
Shona Anderson beat Marion Stewart 2 and 1.
Susan Murray beat Annabel Kane 7 and 5.

Well done Murcar Links and Good Luck in the next stage --- Also many congratulations to Kilmacolm on their tremendous achievement in reaching the last 16 . Difficult to win away from Home but you should be proud of getting so far

Kilmacolm Mail on Sunday Team look forward to their 8th round match against Murcar Links

Kilmacolm Mail on Sunday Team -- Click to enlarge Kilmacolm team that beat Douglas Park in the seventh round of the "Mail on Sunday" competition. Left to right: Rena Simpson, Morag Turner, Annabel Kane, Marion Stewart and Megan Briggs. Eildih Briggs was missing on that occasion.

Kilmacolm are looking forward to their Mail on Sunday match against Murcar Links on Saturday 6th September. "Although we have reached round 7 on a number of occasions, the last being against Dornoch at Dornoch, we have never reached round 8" said Team Captain Anne Dunn. This year we are very fortunate to have Megan and Eilidh Briggs playing for us. Megan, who plays off Scratch, is our current Club Champion as well as being the current Renfrewshire County Champion and Eilidh, who plays off 3, was the runner up in both the Club and County Championships. The girls have been members of the club for about five years and have played in Home Internationals at both Girls and Senior level. They are a great inspiration to our Lady members - perhaps this is why we have progressed further in this competition than previously. With their very busy schedules we have not had the advantage of them playing in all our ties so credit must go to the rest of the pool: Marion Stewart - 10: Morag Turner - 11: Rena Simpson - 11: Sally Wilbur - 12: Annabel Kane - 13: Beatrice Orr - 15: and Annette Baillie - 16. Sally was unable to play in out last two ties as she got married in July and was too busy with all preparations for the wedding and then being away on honeymoon.

This should be a very interesting tie and I hope the weather is clement not only for the teams but particularly for those of us who are travelling up to support them.

Thanks go to Kilmacolm's Mail on Sunday Team Captain Anne Dunn for the report
