FOUR QUALIFY FROM 100 FOR SLGA GRAND FINAL AT CRIEFF
Royal Musselburgh’s Sara Mathieson, Suzanne Cadden (Cardross),(pictured left) Louise Fleming (Strathaven) and Ranfurly Castle’s Helen Abram were the four qualifiers from a field of 100 at today’s (Wed) SLGA Regional Medal West Division Final at East Kilbride for the Grand Final at Crieff on Sunday, September 5th.
Sara Mathieson, Aberdeenshire women’s county champion last year and playing off six, had the lowest net return of 69 in the Silver Division, finishing two shots ahead of West of Scotland's Suzanne Cadden (Cardross) whose better inward half off five of a handicap gained her the second qualifying spot from this division ahead of two other players who had net 71s: Joyce Chalmers (East Kilbride) (9) and Ruth Pryce (Vale of Leven) (14).
In the Bronze Division, Louise Fleming, playing off 22, had a five-stroke victory with a net 69. The other qualifier in this section, Helen Abram (Ranfurly Castle) , playing off 22, had a net 74.
The women’s par was 73 and the CSS 74.

Clare - Marie wins the LGU Challange Bowls at Stirling Golf Club
Fereneze player Clare-Marie Carlton and Isobel Millar (Vale of Leven) both scored double whammy victories at the LGU Challenge Bowls competition at Stirling Golf Club on Monday
Clare-Marie had the best scratch score of 75 to win the Wallace Williamson Bowl and also, less her handicap of 2, the best net score of 73 to win the Silver Division LGU Challenge Bowl.
Louise MacGregor (Falkirk) was runner-up in the Silver Division handicap returns with a 74 off four. She prevailed with a better inward half over Fiona Campbell (Stirling), playing off 11, and Susan Jackson (Ladybank), playing off two. Fiona and Susan also had net 74s.
Isobel Millar won the Bronze Division Scratch Cup with a score of 101 and the Bronnze Division LGU Challenge Bowl with a net 79 off 22.
The CSS was 73 and 20 players took part.

Megan Briggs is the 2008 West of Scotland Champion
Congratulations and well done to Megan who beat last year's holder, Lesley Hendry, on a better inward half. Both went round in 76, Megan came back in 36 and Lesley in 37. The Handicap Section was won by Gillian Arnott from Kilbirnie Place who pipped Alyson McKechin by one shot. Alyson was in the lead for most of the day until Gillian returned her winning score of 70 in the third last game. Alison McGinnigle from Cochrane Castle was 3rd
It was a successful day for Renfrewshire as they won the West of Scotland Team Trophy. The Team was Megan Briggs, Clare-Marie Carlton and Alyson McKechin with an aggregate 230. (pictured above) Dunbartonshire & Argyll were second with 236. It was very lucky that they were able to play on a glorious autumnal day - the day after the course was closed! Thanks go to The Old Course Ranfurly for allowing us courtesy of their course and to the staff who looked after everyone so willingly. Many thanks to Captain Derek MacDougall who came along to present the prizes. Renfrewshire's Results Secretary, Freda Tuck, Secretary, Morag Turner, Kay Black and Maureen Mitchell ensured the day ran without any hitches . Also many thanks to West of Scotland Secretary, Isabel Crawford, for all her organisation. County Challenge Bowls over Hilton Park
The Ladies Golf Union Challenge Bowls competition was played at Hilton Park Golf Club, today. The Fife golfer Susan Jackson (Ladybank) had a round of 73 to win the Wallace Williamson Bowl for the leading Silver Division scratch score.
The best net round in this division was a 66 off 14 by Merle Oxton (St Boswells). Runner-up was Helen Faulds (Douglas Park) with a net 72 off four.
In the Bronze Division the winner of the scratch trophy was Isobel Millar (Vale of Leven) with a score of 107. The best net score in the bronze section was by home-course player Rhonda Morris (Hilton Park)with a net 81

Anne Laing and Fraser Hutchison are the 2007 Scottish Mixed Foursomes Champions
Anne Laing (Vale of Leven) won the Scottish mixed foursomes title in partnership with a fellow Elmwood College, Cupar lecturer, Fraser Hutchison, a member at Burntisland Golf Club at Deer Park Golf Club yesterday
They had a gross score of 73 to win by one shot from two pairs. They were 18-year-old Scotland international Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm) and clubmate Matthew Clark, as well as the Baberton husband-and-wife combination of Douglas and Fiona Hunter.Matthew and Megan took the second scratch prize with the better inward half while the Hunters had the consolation of winning the best net score award with a score of 70 ½ off 3 ½.
Runners-up were Lorraine Campbell and Iain Campbell, both from the Cardross club. They had a net 74 off a handicap of three.
Twenty-five couples played in the championship which was washed out on its original scheduled date of Sunday, September 16.

Isobel Miller (Vale of Leven) has won the LGU Challenge Bowl - that is three in a row - and Elaine White who is the Ladies Captain at Windyhill was second in LGU Medal Grand Final Silver Division
