Kylie Walker just makes the cut in Austria
Kylie Walker's four birdies in the space of 10 holes could not quite wipe out a triple bogey 7 at the second and five bogeys in the second round of the European women's individual amateur golf championship at Schloss Schonborn Golf Club, near Vienna in Austria today (Thursday).
Kylie, who birdied the seventh, ninth, 12th and 16th, finished on four-over-par 77 after an opening-day 78 which also included a triple bogey. Her 36-hole tally of nine-over 155 had her back in joint 40th place, a disappointing follow-up to last week's performance when she was beaten in a play-off by fellow Scot Roseanne Niven for the British women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Malone Golf Club, near Belfast.

Ayrshire Success at the HSBC Wee Wonders Final
Hazel McGarvie (aged 8) -- pictured above won her age group in the G.B. & I final of the Wee Wonders at the weekend. Rounds of 37 and 36 over the 9 hole Balgove Course secured her victory by 2 strokes.
Connie Jaffrey (aged 11) was runner-up in her section with rounds of 78 and 77 over the 18 hole Strathtyrum Course.
This was a super performance by both girls who had previously come through local and regional qualifying to get to the final. Their demeanour, etiquette and golf was a joy to watch.

Kilmacolm Mail on Sunday Team look forward to their 8th round match against Murcar Links
Kilmacolm team that beat Douglas Park in the seventh round of the "Mail on Sunday" competition. Left to right: Rena Simpson, Morag Turner, Annabel Kane, Marion Stewart and Megan Briggs. Eildih Briggs was missing on that occasion.
Kilmacolm are looking forward to their Mail on Sunday match against Murcar Links on Saturday 6th September. "Although we have reached round 7 on a number of occasions, the last being against Dornoch at Dornoch, we have never reached round 8" said Team Captain Anne Dunn. This year we are very fortunate to have Megan and Eilidh Briggs playing for us. Megan, who plays off Scratch, is our current Club Champion as well as being the current Renfrewshire County Champion and Eilidh, who plays off 3, was the runner up in both the Club and County Championships. The girls have been members of the club for about five years and have played in Home Internationals at both Girls and Senior level. They are a great inspiration to our Lady members - perhaps this is why we have progressed further in this competition than previously. With their very busy schedules we have not had the advantage of them playing in all our ties so credit must go to the rest of the pool: Marion Stewart - 10: Morag Turner - 11: Rena Simpson - 11: Sally Wilbur - 12: Annabel Kane - 13: Beatrice Orr - 15: and Annette Baillie - 16. Sally was unable to play in out last two ties as she got married in July and was too busy with all preparations for the wedding and then being away on honeymoon.
This should be a very interesting tie and I hope the weather is clement not only for the teams but particularly for those of us who are travelling up to support them.
Thanks go to Kilmacolm's Mail on Sunday Team Captain Anne Dunn for the report
