JENNIFER MACK WINS HAGGS CASTLE LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE 8th TIME

Audrey and Jennifer
In the Haggs Castle Ladies Championship final today, many times winner and finalist Jennifer Mack was playing 2009 Club Captain Audrey Sturgess over 18 holes.
Audrey took an early 2 hole lead but Jennifer turned this round and coming down 17 Jennifer was 2 up.
Jennifer was in a bit of trouble in the front bunker and Audrey won the hole to take the match down the 18th.
Jennifer played 2 excellent shots to the front fringe while Audrey was in the greenside bunker left in 3. Jennifer played a nice chip and Audrey was unable to get her birdie allowing Jennifer to win the Championship for the 8th time.

Thanks go to D Neal Stewart for the report and photos.

DAY 1 of the British Stroke Play Scots chase Jing Yan from China

Two Scots - Gemma Dryburgh and Heather Munro - in the top 10 and another two - Gabrielle Macdonald and Lauren Whyte in the leading dozen - added up to a good first day for the host country in the Brititish women's open amateur stroke play golf championship at Prestwick Golf Club.
After a brilliant six-under-par 68 by 17-year-old Chinese player Jing Yan, who won the British U18 girls championship at Fairhaven last Friday, it may well be a case of "Who's gonna be second?" but it still has the makings of fascinating final 54 holes over this ancient Ayrshire links, the birthplace of the Open championship.
Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) and Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) were the best of the West Of Scotland players - both on 79
Overnight the leading 40 scored 78 or better on the first day when the CSS was 77, the same as the standard scratch.
