The semi-final line-ups in the inaugural Men’s and Women’s European Golf Team Championships have been confirmed, as the battle to be crowned golf’s first European Champions at Gleneagles gathers momentum.
In the Women’s competition, the top ranked Great Britain team of last week’s Women’s British Open Champion, Georgia Hall and four-time Major winner, Laura Davies will face Casja Persson and Linda Wessberg of Sweden.
In the second semi-final, French pair Justine Dreyer and Manon Molle will face the self-proclaimed “underdogs” of the Great Britain team, Michele Thomson and Meghan MacLaren.

Michele, from Aberdeen, Scotland, said of the putt to secure the semi-final place: “It was the biggest putt of my career. It was just nice to hole it and give us a chance to get a medal. The approach shot to the 18th green was one of the best shots I’ve ever played.”

ENGLAND WIN AGANST SCOTLAND'S LADIES AND GIRLS - DAY 2 HOME INTERNATIONALS

By Colin Farquharson

Although beaten 5-4 by England today (Thursday), Scotland still have a chance of winning the women's home internationals title on the final day at Ballybunion Golf Club.
If the Scots can smash Ireland's 100 per cent record it would come down to a games-won count back with England who will surely beat Wales, losers of both their matches so far by big margins.

The Scots faltered against England, losing 5-4 after Eilidh Briggs went down by 2 and 1 to Lianna Bailey in the final singles.

The real damage was done in the morning foursomes after which the Scots trailed 2.5-0.5 with their top pairing of Hannah McCook and Curtis Cup player Shannon McWilliam losing by 2 and 1 to Lily May Humphreys and Lianna Bailey.
If Scotland beat Ireland and England beat Wales, they will both finish with 2pt and the championship will decided on a countback of games won. The Irish will be confident of beating Scotland and winning the title with three wins out of three.
