Cara Thompson (Royal Dornoch) won the prestigious Strathtyrum Tournament at St Andrews today.
In the semi-finals, Cara showed she was in peak form by beating title-holder Lucy Jamieson (Heswall) 6 and 5.
Thompson was given a much closer contest in the final by Marieke Helgers from the Netherlands. The Scot, a scratch player, won by one hole.
Helgers had earlier dashed hopes of an all-Scottish final by beating Wendy Nicholson (Baberton) 6 and 4 in the semi-finals.
Elizabeth Goodwin, who plays off 11 at Glenbervie, lost in the final of the Strathtyrum Salver handicap competition. She went down at the 20th to Sarah Shepherd, a 13-handicapper from Prestatyn Golf Club, Denbighshire in Wales.
