Past Captains played in the Past Captains Trophy today. Alison Robertson was the overall winner with 40 points and Nancy MacGadie was Runner Up with 39 points. Some of the older Past Captains joined the rest for lunch and Sally Nisbet was winner of the putting competition.

Ayrshire Girls win the Kennedy Salver

Ayrshire Girls won the Kennedy Salver at Cowglen on Monday. With the new format of foursomes in the morning then singles in the afternoon against all 3 other counties, it was very close and the last 2 games on the course decided the overall result!

Douglas Park Golf Club Finals Day

The Douglas Park Championship finals day was played today.

Carol Fell beat Anne Fergusson in the main Championship and Gladys Speedie was the winner against Chris Dingwall in the Senior Championship. Here is a photo of the happy winners

 

European Seniors Ladies Amateur Championship

Helen Faulds (Douglas Park) had a very good 2nd and 3rd round to be the best West of Scotland Player in the European Seniors Ladies Amateur Championship at the Old Course Vilamoura - Portugal. Former Curtis Cup Player Maureen Richmond (nee Walker) had an excellent last round of 74 to tie with Helen. Janice Gardner (Drumpellier)finished well also.
Fiona De Fries (St Rule) the 2006 Scottish Seniors Champion finished 6th and was the best placed Scot

Garden Open Day in Bridge of Weir

 

Helen Crichton (Ranfurly Castle and RLCGA) is holding an Open Day in her garden on Sunday 17th June.

The Gardens are open from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday 17th June .
There are 5 gardens in Bridge of Weir. They will be signposted from the bottom of Prieston Road with yellow signs. The easiest to find Helen's garden is: - Airlie which is straight on up Prieston Road and is on the right hand side and will have a small Gazebo at the gate so should be easy to spot. The charge is £3 for all three gardens, there is a plant stall in Helen's garden and tearoom at one of the other gardens.
There was a big article on the gardens in last sundays Scotland on Sunday in the At Home section if you still have the paper. The herbaceous borders and several interesting features are worth a look at.
