Scotland finish 11th in the World Amateur Championships
Scotland just failed to make their target of a top-10 finish in the women's world amateur team championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy at Grange Golf Club, Adelaide in Australia.
They had their best team effort on the fourth and final day - a 72 from Roseanne Niven, a 73 from Kylie Walker and a 75 from Krystle Caithness - but came joint 11th in the final standings, which is not a bad effort at all in a field of 48 teams.

Scotland climb to 12th Position in Australiia
Krystle Caithness had another great day at the women's world amateur team championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy at the Grange Golf Club, Adelaide in Australia.
After matching her opening round of two-under-par 71, Krystle is lying joint third in the individual standings.
With Kylie Walker contributing a 75, it was a better day for Scotland with a Day 3 team score of 146. They have climbed to joint 12th position - one behind England - but 25 shots behind the runaway leaders, Sweden, who are 11 shots ahead of next-best Spain with one round to go.
A top-10 finish is now the realistic target for Scotland, which would still be a creditable effort on the world amateur stage

Congratulations and well done to Megan who beat last year's holder, Lesley Hendry, on a better inward half. Both went round in 76, Megan came back in 36 and Lesley in 37. Anne Laing was a close third on 77. ---- (Click on the picture above to see an enlargement of the photo of Lesley, Megan and Anne)

Greenlees Trophy 2008
Last week saw the completion of all three divisions of the 2008 Greenlees Trophy matches. I hope all the teams have enjoyed their games and that they have felt the new system we have tried this year, of having fixture dates and result tables available on the West of Scotland website, has been beneficial.
My thanks go to Carol Fell who assisted me at the beginning of the season to set everything up and we have worked together through the season to try and make sure that it all ran according to plan.
Several clubs had to postpone matches due to weather conditions and I am only surprised that more matches did not require postponement considering what a wet summer we have endured!
Congratulations to The Ladies Golf Club Troon, promoted from Division 2 last year, to being winners of the Greenlees Trophy this year, with 47.5 points. Ranfurly Castle are runners up with 42.5. ---- Well done!
Congratulations to Milngavie, promoted from Division 3 at the end of last season and now to be promoted to Division 1 for season 2009 after winning Division 2 this year with a total of 46.5 points closely followed by West Kilbride on 45 points.
Division 3 is topped by Williamwood and Eastwood on 52.5 points each. The rules for The Greenlees Trophy had to be consulted in order to separate the two teams and Williamwood narrowly came out on top. Disappointing for Eastwood after a very good season but both will have the pleasure of moving to Division 2 for season 2009.
For all the season's results click on the following link: GREENLEES DIVISIONAL TOTALS
Well done to all the teams who participated and for the friendly and competitive way that the matches have been played. I hope you will all look forward to season 2009.
